Objective

This BAMF-funded course prepares immigrants for the final examination "Deutsch Test für den Beruf B2", which certifies language competence at level B2.

Course content

In face-to-face instruction (on-site presence or online presence), linguistically-communicative as well as other job-related competencies at the B2 level are conveyed through various workplace communication situations.

  • The course provides you with industry-specific vocabulary for different sectors and situations, such as application, contract, workplace, customer contact, etc.
  • The course enhances your skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking through diverse exercises based on authentic texts and dialogues.
  • The course offers language-related exercises in general career orientation and job searching, e.g., resume, cover letter, job interview, etc.
  • The course prepares you for the final examination "Deutsch Test für den Beruf (DTB)", which verifies your language proficiency at the B2 level.

All teaching material is available on the learning platform ILIAS.

Teachers

Course instructors  are qualified teachers with appropriate degrees and educational aptitude.

Participation requirements

  • Professional or academic degree certificate
  • A recognized B1 language certificate (FIA, Telc, Goethe or ÖSD – a confirmation of course participation is not sufficient)
  • Registered residence in Germany
  • A valid visa / residence permit

Exam

After completing the course, the language test "Deutsch Test für den Beruf B2" can be taken at the FIA.

Examination fee reimbursement can be requested from BAMF.

Qualification program certificate

After completing the course (attendance of at least 80%) participants receive a qualification program certificate.

Funding

The "Basic Professional Language Course B2" is approved by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and can be funded with a certificate of eligibility from BAMF if you reside in Germany. Find detailed information here on course funding and on how to apply for funding from BAMF.

Evaluation

To secure course quality, participants evaluate the course after course completion on the e-learning platform. Results are discussed with teachers / lecturers responsible for the course.
