On September 9, 2024, the first language course of the FIA Academy within the Specialized! Program of the Federal Employment Agency will begin.
Eight doctors from Mexico and Brazil arrived in Germany last week to start the process of recognizing their medical degrees. On August 29, they were officially welcomed by the FIA Academy and the Frankfurt am Main Employment Agency. This meeting provided all participants with the opportunity to meet in person after weeks of virtual exchange. The course participants introduced themselves and then received extensive information from the Federal Employment Agency on arriving in Germany and the process of professional recognition.
The doctors will participate in a six-month preparatory course at the FIA Academy for the professional language test required for medical licensure. During the recognition process, they can already gain work experience in hospitals thanks to the newly introduced "Recognition Partnership".
The FIA Academy is pleased to be making an important contribution to improving healthcare at a time of urgent skilled labor shortages. We wish our eight new participants much success in their social and professional integration in Germany.
About Specialized!
Since 2017, the Federal Employment Agency has been specifically recruiting doctors from partner countries through the Specialized! Program to address the shortage of doctors, especially in rural areas. The program is conducted by the Central Foreign and Specialist Placement (ZAV) in collaboration with the regional offices of the participating federal states.
Specialized! places great emphasis on comprehensive support for participants, from program admission to medical licensure. This significantly eases the burden on clinics. Additionally, recruitment is always carried out in consultation with the countries of origin and in consideration of ethical standards.
