First ÖSD Exams in Sulaymaniyah: A Milestone for the Region
On February 5 and 7, 2025, we at the Freiburg International Academy (FIA), in collaboration with our local partner, the HIM Institute, took a significant step in the professional migration and integration of international healthcare professionals—the first ÖSD exams in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan-Iraq, were successfully conducted!
The Importance of ÖSD Exams for the Region
For us at FIA, this is not only a first but also a moment of great joy and pride. Many know how crucial an official language certificate is, whether for finding a job or pursuing academic dreams. With the opening of our new exam center, we have created an opportunity for professionals from the Kurdistan-Iraq region to take language exams locally. This not only spares them long journeys abroad but also opens doors to countless career opportunities.
High Quality and Safety Standards
It was an exciting moment for us when we opened the doors of the exam center for the first time. We invested a great deal of time and effort to ensure that the exams were conducted at the highest level: In close collaboration with the Austrian Language Diploma in German (ÖSD), exam procedures, staff training, and security measures were meticulously planned.
Representatives of ÖSD attended the exams to monitor and improve the processes. The German Consulate in Erbil also traveled to Sulaymaniyah to inspect the examination facilities. In the future, there will be close exchange between FIA and the consulate to ensure that the issued certificates are recognized by the consulate.
Future Prospects for Skilled Workers
We are extremely delighted with this success. We firmly believe that this step is an important advancement for the migration and integration of international healthcare professionals from the region and hope that many more professionals will take the opportunity to participate in upcoming ÖSD exams in Sulaymaniyah.
