Start

Objective

This funded extra occupational part-time course offers comprehensive preparation for foreign pharmacists taking the professional language test in order to obtain a German professional license (Approbation) and focusses, in addition, on everyday work.

Course contents

In classroom teaching (on-site presence or online presence), the relevant structures as well as the peculiarities of the professional competences in the area of communication and interaction are explained (for example, patient consultation, case presentation, expert discussion, documentation). The pharmaceutical language skills are taught with regard to the professional competencies and are practically trained. In addition, occupational aspects of the German health system are presented in detail. For this purpose, an introduction to professional multi-professional communication is carried out in consideration of interculturality.

E-learning

The e-learning serves to consolidate the newly acquired professional language skills in the classroom instruction through different individual online exercises.

The e-learning consists of 12 online learning modules with different learning tasks and interactive learning videos in the learning platform ILIAS. Clips, audios, graphics, pictures and texts with professional language exercises are integrated into the respective learning modules. Allocation questions, cloze texts, classic single and multiple-choice assignments complete the learning experience and ensure a high impact and a high level of learning engagement.

Teachers

Course instructors  are qualified teachers with appropriate degrees and educational aptitude.

Entry requirements

  • A degree in pharmacy
  • A recognized B2 language certificate (FIA, Telc, Goethe or ÖSD – a confirmation of course participation is not sufficient)
  • Registered residence in Germany
  • A valid visa / residence permit
  • Proof of recognition procedure (i.e copy of application form, if available copy of application receipt)

If you do not have a recognised language certificate you can take a free placement test. The test is held online.

Exam

After completing the course a C1 professional language test can be taken at the Pharmacists' Association responsible for your recognition procedure.

 

C1 Patient Communication Test (PKT) professional language at FIA:

For holders of a degree from an EU country, the FIA C1 PKT professional language for dentistry is currently recognized by the Federal State of Hessen.

Holders of a degree from outside the EU must take the C1 professional language test offered only by the Hessen State Medical Association.

The FIA C1 PKT remains valid as proof of sufficient professional language skills for all degrees in the Federal State of Saarland.

Qualification program certificate

After completing the course (attendance of at least 80%) participants receive a qualification program certificate.

Funding

The "Intensive Course Preparation Pharmaceutical Language Test (part-time)" is AZAV certified and can be funded with an education voucher from an Employment Agency or Jobcenter. Various scholarships are available as well if you reside in Germany.

To secure course quality, participants evaluate the course after course completion on the e-learning platform. Results are discussed with teachers / lecturers responsible for the course.
